Water Tank Guide

Why Calculate Tank Volume and Paint Needs?

Accurately determining your water tank’s capacity and surface area is essential for several reasons:

  • Proper sizing for your water storage needs
  • Calculating treatment chemicals requirements
  • Planning maintenance schedules
  • Estimating paint quantities for corrosion protection
  • Budgeting for installation and maintenance

How the Calculator Works

Our calculator uses precise geometric formulas to determine:

For Cylindrical Tanks:
Volume = ฯ€ ร— radiusยฒ ร— height
Surface Area = (2 ร— ฯ€ ร— radius ร— height) + (2 ร— ฯ€ ร— radiusยฒ)
For Rectangular Tanks:
Volume = length ร— width ร— height
Surface Area = 2 ร— (lengthร—width + lengthร—height + widthร—height)
For Spherical Tanks:
Volume = (4/3) ร— ฯ€ ร— radiusยณ
Surface Area = 4 ร— ฯ€ ร— radiusยฒ

Paint required is calculated as: (Surface Area / Coverage) ร— Number of Coats

Painting Tips & Best Practices

Surface Preparation

Properly clean and sand the surface before painting. Remove rust, oil, and debris for optimal paint adhesion.

Weather Conditions

Paint in moderate temperatures (10-30ยฐC) with low humidity for best results and proper curing.

Primer Application

Always use a suitable primer for metal surfaces. This improves adhesion and provides corrosion protection.

Multiple Coats

Apply at least two coats of paint, allowing proper drying time between coats as specified by manufacturer.
